Bruce Park

Located in the center of Energy, Bruce Park is a nicely manicured 8-acre park with trees, pavilions, ball diamonds and soccer fields.  The park is a great place to take your family on an outing or for your kids to participate in local sports.  While you are there, take a look at the military memorial.  There is also a schoolhouse bell monument that stood on the site.

This beautiful Carterville park includes a community center, baseball field, skate park, walking path that surrounds a fishing pond, volleyball courts (sand), playground, pavilion, gazebo, and memorial garden. Ball fields and shelters can be reserved.

Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge

This 43,890 acre National Wildlife Refuge is primarily in southwestern Williamson County, but with small extensions into adjacent eastern Jackson and northeastern Union counties of southern Illinois. Its land and water contain a wide diversity of flora and fauna. It centers on Crab Orchard Lake. Major habitat types on the refuge include hardwood forest, agricultural land, grazing units, brushland, wetlands, and lakes. Other major bodies of water on the refuge are Devil's Kitchen Lake and Little Grassy Lake.

Herrin Park District

Herrin Park District is a beautiful, well kept park with a multi-purpose recreation complex that includes two walking paths with a quarter-mile all weather track and a one-mile lighted walking trail.  Herrin Park is an excellent place for a leisurely jog. You can even enjoy feeding the beautiful ducks that walk around and swim in the pond.

James Mohan Memorial Park

James Street Park

The city's oldest park includes four baseball fields, a pavilion, playground, and batting cages.  Basketball courts are adjacent to the park at the Carterville Intermediate School.  Tri-C Athletics utilize these ball fields for most of their spring/summer season, but you can inquire for more information at city hall.  Shelters are available on a first-come, first-serve basis; no reservation or deposit required.

Marion Park District

The Marion Park District currently owns and provides services at 7 park locations covering approximately 112 acres.  The district maintains facilities early spring through late fall for sports associations and clubs; sponsors an annual triathlon; and collaborates with other organizations in providing its best to the community.

Ray Fosse Park

Ray Fosse Park is centrally located and offers playground equipment, four lighted picnic shelters with tables, tennis courts, seven baseball fields, three concession stands, goofy golf, batting cages and Aquatic Center featuring a swimming pool, water slide, diving boards and a separate baby pool with a mushroom sprinkler fountain.
